Hunting
The purpose of hunting regulations is to manage Georgia’s game resources according to sound principles of wildlife management and to meet public objectives for use of these renewable natural resources. Hunters and other interested persons are encouraged to provide input regarding proposed changes to hunting regulations for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 hunting seasons.
Proposed Changes: Changes to the existing rules reflect the need to adopt hunting regulations for the next two years, standardize the definition of “youth,” establish disposal requirements for deer carcasses, add Calhoun County to the southwestern deer zone, allow a replacement tag for deer that test positive for chronic wasting disease, allow for an antlerless 2-day hunt in certain counties, reduce teal season in accordance with federal regulations, regulate hunting and other activities on WMAs and other public lands, and housekeeping changes.
