One-Time Honorary Veterans Hunting & Fishing License Application
A One Time Veterans License is available free to Georgia resident military veterans who served on active Federal duty for 90 or more days and were honorably discharged on July 1, 2005 or later. This free license is valid for one year from date of issue, is available to Georgia residents, and may be issued only once.
The One Time Veterans Hunting and Fishing License is a full privilege sportsman’s license, and includes all state paid recreational hunting and fishing privileges (see below for additional no cost state licenses that may be required). The One Time Veterans License includes hunting, big game, , Georgia Migratory Bird Stamp, salt and freshwater fishing and mountain trout licenses. Remaining licenses or permits that may be needed are the free annual state harvest record (deer and turkey), the free annual Georgia Migratory Bird Stamp, free annual state SIP License for salt water fishing, and/or the federal duck stamp, depending on what is being hunted. If you need any of these four, they must be renewed each year. A quota permit is needed i to harvest one alligator per quota permit—the One-Time Veterans License includes alligator hunting when assisting the quota permit holder, or covers hunting if the holder has obtained the alligator quota permit themselves. Trapping or other commercial licenses are not included.
The free Harvest Record, free Georgia Migratory Bird Stamp, and free annual state SIP License for salt water fishing are available anywhere Georgia licenses are sold, including through our online web site, by phone, or at a license agent. Directions for doing all three can be found here. The Federal Duck Stamp is available online at GoOutdoorsGeorgia.com, from Georgia license agents, at Post Offices, and online from the USFWS. There is a federally required fee for the Federal Duck Stamp.
Applicants without hunter education that were born after January 1, 1961 may request a One Time Veterans Fishing License (fishing only). If the applicant wants the One Time Veterans Hunting and Fishing License that includes both privileges, they should not apply until completing the hunter safety course. Applicants must initial the application in the space provided to receive a One Time Veterans Fishing License and waive the right to a One Time Veterans Hunting and Fishing License.
Applicants must attach a photocopy of their DD Form 214 to the application and a copy of a current Georgia Driver’s License or official Georgia ID card. Other requirements are listed on the application.
Allow 3–5 days for processing after we receive your application. Your sportsman’s privileges are not valid until you receive your license. If you provide an email address on this application, you will be notified when you can print your license online.
After the One Time Veterans Hunting and Fishing License" expires, the next license must be purchased. Georgia offers a discounted full privilege veterans lifetime license.
